About Trouvae Labradors
Trouvae Labradors (pronounced “troo-vay”) is a small, preservation-focused AKC Labrador Retriever program based in Ohio.
My involvement in dogs began through 4-H, where training and responsible ownership were foundational. From there, I moved into junior handling and conformation, developing an early respect for structure, presentation, and breed standards.
That foundation deepened through working as an assistant within a professional handler and breeder’s program of Shetland Sheepdogs. That experience with conditioning, show preparation, kennel management, and pedigree discussion shaped both how I evaluate dogs and my approach to animal husbandry.
Labradors became my breed in 2015. Since then, I have immersed myself in the Labrador Retriever standard and value mentorship from long-established breeders whose programs demonstrate consistency over time, producing dogs that succeed in the ring while also excelling as companions.
Breeding under the Trouvae name began in 2023—not as an entry into dogs, but as the continuation of sustained involvement in purebred dogs and conformation.
Philosophy & Perspective
I maintain a limited number of dogs so they are properly conditioned, well-managed, and capable of functioning as house dogs. Daily husbandry and thoughtful management are foundational to the program.
Breeding decisions are guided by health testing, structural balance, temperament stability, pedigree compatibility, and long-term contribution to the breed. Our dogs are exhibited in conformation and evaluated against the Labrador Retriever standard. At the same time, they live as Labradors—steady companions integrated into daily life.
Ongoing training in performance descplines such as scentwork and volunteer work within a service dog organization continue to inform my perspective. Exposure to a purpose-bred working program offers perspective on another approach to canine management and development.
Litters are planned intentionally and are not produced on a set schedule.
