The Puppy Process

We breed selectively and do not produce frequent litters. Puppies are placed intentionally, based on overall fit and long-term success rather than order of inquiry.

Because litter size, gender ratios, color ratios and individual development cannot be predicted in advance, availability is never guaranteed prior to birth and evaluation. We reserve the right to retain one or more puppies for our program.

Families who believe our dogs may be a good fit for their home are invited to begin the conversation.

Step 1: Initial Inquiry & Questionnaire

Prospective families reach out to learn more about upcoming litters, availability and our program.

To move forward in the process, we ask that interested families complete our questionnaire. This allows us to better understand your household, experience and what you are looking for in your next Labrador.

Step 2: Questionnaire Review

Completed questionnaires are reviewed carefully. If we believe there may be mutual alignment, we will share a copy of our purchase agreement and request a phone discussion. This allows you to review our agreement before further commitment.

We believe it’s important that families review our agreement early in the process so that exceptions are clear on both sides.

Step 3: Phone Discussion

The phone call allows us to get to know you better and discuss:

  • Lifestyle and activity level

  • Training expectations

  • Temperament nuances and preferences

  • Long-term plans for your dog

It also gives you the opportunity to ask your questions about our program.

Step 4: Placement List & Litter Updates

If the conversation confirms mutual alignment, families are added to the list for the current or upcoming litter. Once added to our list, families receive:

  • A detailed puppy preparation guide outlining recommended supplies and foundational planning

  • Guidance on selecting appropriate items, including options within each category and products we have found to work well in our own program

  • Milestone updates as the puppies grow

When puppies arrive they are our #1 priority, but we aim to keep families informed and give them the resources to be prepared for the early weeks with a new puppy.

Step 5: Evaluation, Placement & Pickup

Placement decisions are finalized after structural and temperament evaluations. While preferences are noted, individual placement is determined based on best overall fit.

Ahead of pickup day we will determine a scheduled pickup appointment. We schedule individual pickup times to ensure a smooth and unhurried transition for each family.

Payment timing is discussed during the placement process and will be reconfirmed at the time of appointment confirmation.

Puppies go home at the appropriate age with veterinary documentation and lifelong breeder support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime. If you’re feeling ready, contact us to get started.

  • We maintain a placement list only after a pregnancy has been confirmed.

Because we breed selectively and infrequently, we do not guarantee availability prior to birth and evaluation. Placement from a confirmed litter depends on litter size, development, and overall fit.

  • No. We do not accept deposits.

We believe adding a Labrador to your home should be a fully considered decision. We do not want financial obligation of a deposit to influence that choice. Instead, we rely on clear communication and mutual commitment throughout the process.

Families added to our list are expected to move forward in good faith and notify us promptly if plans change. We ask that families avoid holding spots with multiple breeders once confirmed on our list.

  • Preferences for color, sex, and personality are noted and considered carefully. Final placement decisions are made after formal structural and temperament evaluations. Puppies are placed according to best overall fit rather than a first-come selection order.

  • No. While we are careful not to overbook, availability ultimately depends on litter size, sex ratios, development, and overall fit.

Because we breed for the long-term preservation of our program, we may retain a puppy when appropriate. Placement from any litter is finalized only after evaluation, and pickup is scheduled individually. Continued communication and confirmation are expected as placement approaches.

  • All puppies are placed on AKC Limited Registration and are intended as family companions.

Limited registration does not restrict participation in AKC performance sports (such as obedience, agility, rally, hunt tests, scent work, etc.), but it does prevent breeding and AKC conformation showing.

  • The terms “English” and “American” are commonly used to describe show-line (bench-bred) and field-bred styles. Our dogs are show-line bred and are often described as “English” in type, though there is only one Labrador Retriever standard.

We encourage families to focus on temperament, structure and overall suitability for their lifestyle rather than labels alone.
